Great place for executive singles in Houston?

Esmeralda asked:

I’m a single young executive who is looking for any singles hot-spots for affluent singles in Houston (execs, doctors, attorneys, etc.). This could be a social group, a place, etc. I’m just tired of not finding anybody who is where I’m at in life. I don’t want a sugardaddy, I just don’t want to be a sugar momma either. PS - I have done the online dating thing already. Also, please no hate mail. Everyone has their standards, finding my equal is mine.
Alrighty then. If someone wants to START something like that - email me on this service and lets see how many people we get interested.

As a single male physican, I find the same problem as well. As many singles as there are in Houston, finding a place or event to meet quality singles, either to date or to greet, is difficult in Houston.

Personally, as for place to go, I usually found myself in various wine bars. Wine bars have been a recent phenomena in Houston. With opening of 3 Tasting Rooms in central Houston, Crus in Woodland, Vino 100 at west Houston, and D’Vine Wine at Kemah, wine bar is a good location to meet people to appreciate wines, which sort of translate into more professional people. My favorite is the Tasting Room at Uptown Park, which has live performance, laid back staff and customers, and three huge tables that fits about 8 people each so customers can hook up conversations just by proximity.

As for events, I usually end up at more classy events. Museum of Fine Art sometimes sponsors the private single’s wine events, and Houston Grand Opera and Symphony also occasionally have their own private single’s events. Aside from that, it is hard to find quality events. I’ve also tried the 8 Minutes dating, which was pretty much a hit and miss, with mostly miss. A “Professional” event is not necessarily filled with high quality professionals.

Say, you and I can start a professional single’s group?

    J’s suggestions are good.

You can also join Emerging Leaders (http://www.downtownhouston.org/Home/EmergingLeaders/join1/), The Alley Theater’s 1st Act (http://www.alleytheatre.org/Alley/1st_act_-_Alley_Young_Professionals_EN.asp?SnID=1794156057), Also the Petroleum Club has a young professionals association (http://www.ypapcoh.com/pages/exec_committee.html).

Depending on where you live, there is an Intown YP Association (http://intownfast4ward.com/events/index.html).

Also, pick up a copy of the White Pages (the mag - not the phone book) and look for listings of upcoming events. The big key is to volunteer for certain groups or get nominated to serve on certain boards (if you have the time to devote).

With more of us moving closer to town and with a little footwork, there are more and more events and groups being developed that focus on young professionals who gave up beer bongs and frat parties long ago.

    Good luck!
