I let them play thru because they will not slow you down and it is common courtesy to let faster players go thru. Remember they paid to play all the holes also.

If the group behind me, regardless of the number of players, is playing faster, I let them play though. Just part of golf etiquette.

If the course is so crowded that you have to wait on the group in front of you, and they are waiting on the group in front of them, etc…….I don’t usually let them play though.

No matter what number of people in the group, if there is an open hole ahead of you, and the group behind is playing faster, LET THEM PLAY THROUGH. I play as a single all the time and can finish a round of 18 in 2 1/2 to 3 hours. If the group ahead of me dosnt offer, than I simply tell them that I am playing through. If they give me any lip, I call the ranger. Most groups have the common courtesy to offer.

I always let a faster group play through if there is room ahead of me. But I like playing fast, so that usually doesn’t happen unless I’m a walking single and they have a cart, or I’m stuck with a group of hacks.
Although it’s not a “rule” (depending on local course rules), it’s really just common courtesy to let faster players through. However, there is an art to letting groups play through:
    1) Don’t wait on the tee for the group behind you to catch up and tee off before you. No one likes to feel rushed and pressured when they tee off. Plus, you only create a back-up on the tee.
    2) Play away and then move out of the way when the group behind you is ready to play. Make sure you wave them up and then get some cover behind a tree. Then you play on when they are out of range.
    3) If they do catch up to you when you are on the tee, the thing to do is to tee off with them and allow them to move ahead on their second shots.
    4) always, always, ALWAYS play “ready golf”.

I let singles play through. Everyone else can play at the pace
or skip to the next hole.

Good question! I play single every other morning at my local pitch and putt. When I do catch up to a group that’s still teeing off I just skip the hole they are on and hit 2 balls on the next hole and mark down the score for my first ball for the hole I missed and the second ball for the current hole. It doesn’t give you a true score but it’s better than leaving it blank. Plus you can continue at your own pace.

You always let them play through, unless they are not good and struggling, but if you encounter a single or a double that is a good golfer playing quick holes, you ALWAYS let them play through.

No one plays faster than me. When I am with a slow group I make the group let the faster players play through.

Funny story: Me and my friend were playing on a busy Saturday morning and the whole course was as slow as molasses. We had to wait every hole for the the group ahead of us to clear out. A single came up to the tee and we offered to let her play with us. After introductions we all made small talk while we waited for the group ahead of us to move out of range. The gal we just met tees up and hits her drive. She picks up her tee and looks back and says thanks and proceeds to drive off to her ball. Me and my friend look at each other in disbelief. What was she thinking???
