When you send someone a message on Yahoo Personals they require you to enter a verification code. If YOU are sending the message, why does it need to be verified?

    it most likely has to do with security issues. A verification code is verifying your transmission is secure and that YOU are you, and no one else has gotten into your account. Those verification codes are encryped so I think it has to do with the server verifying it with your IP address. Its for your safety, so go with it, just an added protection.
