Shouldn’t most of the questions asked in this forum be in the singles and dating forum?

Is anyone aware that gender studies is actually an academic discipline?
Best answer goes to the person that can name the first public University to offer it as a major.
Geezuz Christ, you people are way off!

I can’t believe gender studies is an academic discipline, that is so wrong! I’m currently studying singles and dating at Oxford.

    edit @ vintner ;-D

  3. vintner Says:

Was it the University of Warwick?

Haha, Johno–I’d give you an A+.

I think it’s the little teens asking dating questions, and the automated selection from YA puts it in gender studies. The teens don’t know any better to switch them.

    Yes.

The first Women’s Studies program was established at San Diego State College (now San Diego State University).

I do not agree unless our world has already gone to the dogs morally. Most of the questions have to do with people already living together. Wait !!! Perhaps, our world has already gone to the animal kingdom, morally…..regression is rampant.

The singles and dating section is often jam packed with teens asking the same old questions over and over again (e.g. OMG plz tell me if he’s in 2 me or not!!! or This guy @ my skool is hott!! how do i get him?). Those same teens often give silly answers to serious questions. There have been a few times I have had serious questions about dating only to have my question trolled by such people. Maybe they just feel like they would get more mature and honest answers here.

  9. Rio Madeira Says:

No, there are only a few mismatches around here. Most questions about dating here can be linked in some way to gender relations. It’s only when 13-year-olds show up whining about whether or not some classmate has a crush on them that we have a problem.

  10. The Planet Says:

They should probably had two Dating & Singles sections. One for teens and one for adults. And I agree that a lot of the questions in this forum could be in an adult Dating & Singles section. Some Q&A’s I’d cringe to see them go into a Dating & Singles area where young teens hang out.

As for people not being aware that gender studies is actually an academic discipline— A few people don’t want to get that. They’d rather hold on to their prejudices.

  11. Flyinghorse Says:

I am aware it is an academic discipline. People have just to google it and a lot of University programs will come in sight. But some insist is about something else

I don’t even have to name the first University to offer it as a major, the information is one click away ;-)

    A lot of them, yes.

Or the fashion section, or the health section, or the “crazy fetish” section….
