what is the best return in a singles match against someone with an amazing kick serve?

I had a match yesterday and all of my strategies were nothing. i moved up to the baseline(catching it early) and hanging back farther. either they served it deep so it was hard to hit my top spin return or put more kick on it when i moved back…. im completely lost

the best thing to do is just a deep shot back. dont put force into your shot, because if you coulnd’t handle the serve, then you’d most likely be hitting it too far. just let the ball bounce off your racket, all you have to do is aim it correctly. with a powerful serve, they probably have a nice over head shot, so try not to hit it high. try aiming for there backhand and force them to change there footing and position on the court.
once you get the feel for the serve, and know where to stand, just a deeep lob will let you get set for their return and then you can face them in a volley.
good luck

A person who can mix up there serve with either a deep serve or a kick serve is hard to return against. I would say the best way to increase your chances to return the serve is to find the place (as far in towards the net as possible) where you can still return the deep serve well. If possible look to see if the server has any tells to which serve he is going to make, and move in if it is going to be the kick serve. If he doesn’t really have a tell or different racket position just try to step in to your return on the kick serve. You can always try moving back farther and letting the serve come back down, but if the server moves the ball around well this is difficult.
I topspin return is very difficult to hit on a kick serve. Your timing has to be amazing to do that well. I suggest a very short back swing with either a block return or a shortened flat return.

Move in and hit the ball early. Don’t take a big back swing on the return……punch the ball back..out in front of you…like a volley.

WATCH THE BALL!
Counter with a block return (with a little slice) cross court.
Immediately SET UP and be ready for his return…

slice it back deep into their court and don’t let them control the point.
