find a few people who are interested in heading it up

decide what kind ofa group you want it to be…. what you are going to include in the activities.. is it totally social or do you want bible study to be part of it?

plan an organizational event, where the ‘attenders’ can give ideas and volunteer to help if they can. (like a ‘dinner and a movie night’ where each person brings a dish to share and then watch a ‘new’ movie (that is appropriate for church settings) )

then get fliers made up to put at the local college … and to put in appropriate people’s mailboxes at church if you have them, or have the church office mail them out.

As a 44 year old college student (although I’m married), what about the non-traditional students as well?

For any ministry, I’d recommend finding out if there is a need out there for this ministry. Then start talking with some of the people who share your vision for this ministry. Then, I’d also talk with some people who might be interested in joining this organization and find out what things they are interested in and if they would be interested in participating (the day selected may not work for them or they may just be giving you lip service that they are interested). Find out how you can help them, and then find out a location.

This sounds like a great idea. A lot of college students drift away from God, largely because they feel out of place in church. A ministry like this may be interesting to certain people who are not interested in church.
