Use a thin stiff blade (similar to a putty knife) and carefully separate the shingles around the area to be repaired. Piece in new shingles feathering them in with the old shingles. Take an old shingle with you to the lumberyard to get a close color match. Use about a 1 and 1/2 inch roofing nail and nail on the nail line using four nails on a low pitched roof and six nails per shingle on a steep pitch (10 x 12 or greater) roof.
